Teaching with Stories and Sayings

Consider teaching with stories or tales. Many cultures teach with stories. Americans do so on a very fundamental level with a statement "and the moral of the story is" to make sure that students get the point. Or our stories are very clearly "preachy." Therefore Americans can benefit by using stories from other cultures until we build up a more subtle store of our own.

One can also teach with sayings. They again should not be sayings that can be totally understood without any thought or pondering. The sayings should also not be cliches or be easily explained by a cliche. Sample lesson
